Abraham Brown I

Abraham Brown I was the first immigrant ancestor to set foot on Colonial American soil. He immigrated at a time when the Scots/Irish and Germans were immigrating en masse.

“Our first Brown ancestor immigrant and his wife and son, landed in Philadelphia in 1735. When he died is unknown but we believe it was near present day Lexington, Virginia in the Wood’s Creek area of Borden’s Grant when it was part of Orange County.

Abraham Brown I was born on April 19, 1702 in Dalkieth, Midlothian, Scotland.
Abraham married Margaret in 1730.

Abraham and Margaret had ten children:
Abraham Brown 1730-1786
Cornelius Brown 1731-1793
James Brown 1753-1814
